Import data from Excel/CSV, and undo an import
Move menu items, ingredients, modifiers, recipes, suppliers, units and opening stock in from a spreadsheet, see whether each row will be added or skipped before you confirm, and undo a finished import.
What you can import, and which files
The Import data page accepts .xlsx, .xls, .csv or .tsv files up to 5,000 rows, 50,000 cells and 5 MB. It imports menu items, ingredients, modifiers, recipes, suppliers, product units and opening stock. The types you can choose depend on your account's permissions and the features the store has on.
Good to know
- Your store data does not change until you tap Confirm import.
Import steps: choose a file, map, review, confirm
Columns are matched for you, and before anything is saved you see whether each row will be created, already exists, needs your decision, or has an error. Records that already exist in the store are skipped, never overwritten.
Steps
- Choose a file, then pick the data type, sheet and header row
- Check the column mappingFields marked * must have a column.
- Tap Analyze and split into batches
- Resolve the decisions, then tap Save choices and recalculate
- Tap Confirm importFor a large file split into batches, use Confirm and import every ready batch.
- Check the results and tap Download results to keep a copyFix failed rows in the file and import it again.
Good to know
- You can pause and resume. Cancelling a run keeps the rows already imported.
- Recent import runs are listed at the bottom of the page; open one to see its result or carry on.
- The Ask AI for suggestions button may not be available for your store; you can always choose the fix yourself.
Undo a finished import
A finished import can be undone: only the records that import created, and that nobody has edited or used since, are removed. Anything else is kept and listed with the reason for you to handle. Past sales and history stay as they are.
Steps
- Open that import from Recent import runs
- Under Undo this import, tap Check what would be removedSee which records will be removed and why others must stay.
- When removing 5 or more records, type the number to confirm
- Tap Undo import (remove ...)
Good to know
- Imported opening stock cannot be undone because it is stock history; correct it with a stock count.
- If the data changed in the meantime, you are asked to check again before anything is removed.
