Walk-in queue: guests scan for a queue number, staff call and seat from the POS
Turn the queue on per branch, print an entrance QR so guests get a queue number and follow their place on their phone, and call, seat, mark no-shows and put guests back in line from POS › Queue.
Turn the queue on and print the entrance QR
On Settings › QR self-order, in the Walk-in queue section, choose the branch, turn on Take a queue at this branch, set how long a called group is held, the most groups waiting at once, the largest group and whether to ask for a phone number, then tap Save. Tap Make entrance QR, then Print QR and place it at the entrance.
Steps
- Open Settings › QR self-order and pick the Walk-in queue section
- Turn on Take a queue at this branch, set the rest and tap SaveA called group is held 5 minutes by default
- Tap Make entrance QR, then Print QR
Good to know
- If the QR gets photographed or copied, tap Make a new QR: the old print stops taking a queue at once. Or tap Stop this QR.
- Guests' nicknames and phone numbers are deleted automatically 30 days after the visit, and guests are never signed up for membership.
What the guest does
The guest scans the entrance QR, enters the group size, a nickname (optional) and a phone number if the store asks, and gets a queue number. The ticket page shows how many groups are ahead and refreshes by itself. When staff call the group the phone shows it's their turn with the table (if staff gave one) and beeps once the guest has turned on the sound alert. Guests can leave the queue themselves.
Good to know
- One phone holds one queue ticket; scanning again returns to the same ticket.
Call, seat and mark no-shows
On the POS, tap Queue next to Tables to see the waiting groups in order with their size and wait time. Tap Call when a table is ready, or Call to a table. When the guests arrive tap Seat and pick a free table: the table's bill opens at once (stores that print a QR per seating also get the slip printed). A called group past the hold turns red as overdue; staff decide and tap No-show. A no-show can go back in line once.
Steps
- Open the POS and tap Queue
- Tap Call or Call to a tableCalling again restarts the hold
- When the guests arrive, tap Seat and pick the tableA free table opens a new bill. For a group joining friends, pick their table under Tables in use and tap Join the bill
Good to know
- For a guest who arrives without scanning, tap Add to queue; they can scan the QR on the screen to follow their place.
- The bar at the top shows groups waiting, the longest wait, today's average wait and how many were seated today.
- Join the bill opens no new bill: the group orders on that table's bill.
Games while waiting, and rewards
When the store's games are on (Settings › QR self-order, Games) and the branch has Games while waiting on (it starts on), the queue ticket page shows a Play button. Guests play the same games as at the table; the rounds count towards the whole visit. When staff seat the group the score goes to the table's bill at once. Guests pick a reward from your reward steps on the ticket page or the table QR. A bill gets one reward; a bill discount still needs staff to confirm, and a reward the guest picked comes before an automatic whole-bill offer.
Steps
- The guest taps Play on the queue ticket pageIf their turn comes during a round, a banner shows at the top
- Seat the group as usualThe score moves to the bill in the same seat
- The guest picks a reward; staff confirm a discount in the reward request bar at the top
Good to know
- The POS shows the game score and the unlocked reward step under the bill's lines, with the queue number it came from.
- A cancelled, no-show or expired ticket's score never reaches a bill and earns nothing.
- Turn the games off for one branch's queue in Settings › QR self-order, Walk-in queue, Games while waiting.
When a guest cannot get a queue number
Check that the Walk-in queue add-on is on (Settings › Store features), that the branch takes a queue, that the guest scanned the newest QR (an old print stops working after you make a new one) and that the queue is not full. If the POS has no Queue button, the branch you are working at does not take a queue yet.
