Self-order kiosk: guests order on a store tablet and pay at the counter
Pair a store tablet as a kiosk. Guests pick dishes and options, choose eat here or take away and get an order number. The order appears on the POS as an unpaid bill; the kitchen gets it after payment (the default) or at once, as the store sets.
Pair a tablet as a kiosk
On Settings › QR self-order, in the Kiosk section, enter a kiosk name, pick the branch and tap Create a pairing code. On the tablet open your store's /kiosk page and enter the 8-character code, or scan the QR shown in settings. A code works once, within 10 minutes. Tap Unpair for a kiosk you no longer use: that device goes back to the pairing screen at once.
Steps
- Open Settings › QR self-order and pick the Kiosk section
- Enter the kiosk name and branch, then tap Create a pairing code
- On the tablet open /kiosk and enter the code or scan the QRTurn on the tablet's screen pinning so guests cannot leave the kiosk page
Good to know
- A branch can pair up to 10 kiosks. A kiosk reaches only its branch's menu and its own orders, never a staff screen or another bill.
How kiosk orders reach the POS and the kitchen
The guest picks dishes, options and eat here or take away, then taps Place order. The kiosk shows the order number and the amount to pay. The POS shows an unpaid bill named Kiosk #number; staff take cash or card as usual. Prices, promotions and VAT are always the system's. By default the kitchen gets the lines once the bill is paid (switch to sending at once in the Kiosk section). When the store's PromptPay is set up, guests can also scan to pay on the kiosk.
Good to know
- The kiosk clears the cart and returns to its start screen after no activity (90 seconds by default), so the next guest never sees the last one's order.
- When the POS takes a kiosk order's payment, the printer adds a queue-number slip after the receipt (a big number, the order time and the items) for the guest to keep until the number is called.
- An order nobody comes to pay (unpaid and not yet sent to the kitchen) cancels itself after 30 minutes (change the time, or 0 to turn it off, in the Kiosk section); the bill history says it was cancelled automatically. Staff can still void it themselves before then. The kitchen never gets it. An order whose guest opened the store's PromptPay QR, or whose checkout the counter opened in the last 10 minutes, is never cancelled automatically: staff check and void it themselves.
