POS training mode for new staff
Practise opening bills, picking items from your real menu, discounts, taking payment and a sample receipt, without recording a real sale.
Enter and leave training mode
On the POS, tap Training mode in the top bar. While you practise, the screen has a yellow frame and a one-line Training · not a real sale strip at the top; tap the strip to see what training does not record and your practice missions. The menu, tables and receipt layout are your store's real ones, but everything you do in this mode stays on this device only. Tap Exit training to go back to real selling.
Steps
- Finish or park the bill you are selling firstIf the current bill has items, training mode will not start, so no real order is left hanging
- Tap Training mode in the POS top bar
- When you are done, tap Exit trainingEvery practice bill is thrown away at once and you are back on the real POS
Good to know
- Real bills waiting to sync from offline selling keep syncing in the background while you practise
- If there is no Training mode button, the owner may have switched it off in Settings › Store features
Practise orders, discounts, payment and voids
Open a practice bill for dine-in (pick a table) or takeaway, then tap items and options just like a real sale; you can change quantities or remove lines. Tap Pay and choose cash to practise giving change, PromptPay to see a sample QR that cannot be paid, or split payment if your store uses it. The Adjustments tab lets you practise a discount with a reason and voiding the bill.
Steps
- Open a practice bill and tap items from your real menuItems with options open the same picker as a real sale
- Tap Pay and choose how the customer paysCash shows the change straight away; PromptPay shows a sample QR, then tap Simulate customer paid
- Look at the sample receipt, then tap Practise the next bill
Good to know
- The QR in training mode is a sample with no payment details; a customer cannot scan it to pay
- Once part of the bill is paid you cannot change its items; void the practice bill to start again
Practice missions: the goals to finish
Training mode has missions to finish: open dine-in and takeaway bills, order an item with an option, change a quantity, give a discount, take cash and give change, take PromptPay, split a payment and void a bill. Each one ticks itself when you do it, and the strip at the top shows your progress, for example 3/9. A bonus mission asks you to close a bill within 60 seconds. The option and split missions are hidden when your store has no options or does not use split payment.
Steps
- Tap the training strip at the top to see the missionsEach mission has a short hint on where to tap
- Practise as usual; a message tells you when a mission is done
Good to know
- Progress is remembered on this device for each staff account, so you can leave and come back; the owner cannot see it from another device
- Tap Start all missions again in the mission list to reset your progress
What training mode does not record
Practice bills are never sent to BoxBak, so there are no sales, no stock deductions, no receipt or tax invoice numbers, nothing in the shift or cash drawer, nothing on the kitchen display, no loyalty points, no LINE messages and nothing in reports. The sample receipt carries a TRAINING watermark and is shown on screen only; it is never sent to a printer.
Good to know
- Leaving training mode, closing the page or refreshing throws every practice bill away; there is nothing to clean up later
- VAT is only calculated on real sales, so a practice receipt has no VAT breakdown
