Bakery shelf: bake in batches, count the shelf and close the day
Pick the menu items you bake ahead, record each bake (the recipe is deducted, the pieces go on the shelf with a best-before), see what is left on the POS with sold-out at 0, and write off the leftovers at closing.
Choose what goes on the shelf
On the bakery shelf page, under "On the shelf", pick the menu items you bake ahead. BoxBak creates a stock item counted in pieces, named like the menu item. Set how many days it keeps after baking (0 = the same day) and whether it stops selling at 0. A sale then takes 1 piece off the shelf instead of the ingredients, which went at the bake; a bag or box in the recipe still goes at the sale.
Steps
- Open Stock & purchasing › Bakery shelf
- Tap "Add to the shelf", pick the menu item and how many days it keeps
- Tap "Add to the shelf"
Good to know
- If the page says it is not switched on, turn it on in Settings › Store features (ingredient processing must be on too).
- Re-closing a bill sold before the item went on the shelf follows the current setting: the recipe (flour and so on) comes back and pieces are taken off the shelf instead, so the shelf can go below 0.
Record each bake
Tap "Bake" on the item's card and enter the pieces baked. The best-before is filled in from the days it keeps (you can change it). Saving deducts the item's recipe x the pieces and puts the pieces on the shelf with their cost per piece. Each batch keeps its own best-before; sales and write-offs take the oldest batch first.
Good to know
- An item without a recipe still bakes and is counted, but nothing is deducted and it costs 0.
Pieces left and sold out on the POS
The POS shows "N left" under the price of a shelf item. At 0 it shows sold out and cannot go on a bill. The QR ordering page and the self-order kiosk hide a sold-out item and refuse an order for more than is left.
Good to know
- The POS never refuses a sale while offline; if more is sold than counted, the shelf goes below 0 until the next bake or stock count.
Close the day: write off leftovers
At closing tap "Close the day". What reached its best-before is filled in; enter what you actually throw away (0 for what still sells tomorrow) and tap "Write off and close". It is recorded as waste, the oldest batch first, and never more than is on the shelf.
